Three Unique Ways to Add More Video to Your Branding

Video makes communicating easier, and it’s one of the fastest and most effective ways to engage your audience. Staying ahead of the PR and marketing trends with video can be a challenge, so we’re helping you stay on trend with these three unique ways to add more video to your marketing.

Trending culture. We just shot a ‘Mannequin Challenge’ video for one of our clients this week. It was fun, creative, but most importantly, it is trending. There are many organizations participating in this ‘challenge’ where everyone in the shot stands completely still, like a mannequin. So, why not do this with your business or organization?

Participating in trending activity is a great way to keep your staff highly engaged and having fun (earning great employee morale points, too), while also engaging with your audience. Not sure what is trending? There are a few tools and insights that can tell you the hashtags and movements trending in pop culture and on social media. Do some online searches (or simply ask your NSPR team member), and you can find robust results.

Rapid response open mic. There’s nothing more fun than an open mic – well, at least for a PR pro or a marketer, this can be a fun topic! Why not take this idea and open it up to executives on your team in a Rapid Response style (meaning they have 60 seconds or less or that you’re responding to something very immediate). Ask them to talk about anything that is top-of-mind, yet still in a casual, approachable manner. This is a great way for your audience or public to build a relationship with executives on your team and message leaders and get to know their personalities a bit more.

Think about your executives (or yourself) answering questions that are topical, friendly, casual and perhaps, even off topic for your business. The more real and genuine the better. The relationship built from there will prove to be one that pays off.

Think about incorporating some of these topics into an open mic session:

  • Pets – who doesn’t love pets? We’re confident that your audience probably has pets and can relate. Showcase your CEO’s pet occasionally. You never know when their dog, parrot or ferret is helping to build a bond for more business.
  • Activities – does someone in your organization run marathons? Perhaps they enjoy rock climbing or Painting with a Twist? Whatever their passion, showcase it. It’s likely there will be an entire audience segment within your primary target audience that can relate and gravitate toward this message.
  • Bag check – ever think about doing a bag check or some form of it (yes, we got this from the Tennis Channel), but showing what is in your executive teams’ desk, bag, suitcase, etc.? This could be interesting and fun!
  • Helping out – showcase how a staff member has helped someone else. Do they volunteer or take part in a charity?

Get real. A video doesn’t have to be a mass produced, highly polished, completely scripted, planned event. Consider simply using the Facebook Live streaming option, for example, and capturing real moments happening at your office or facility. Most social media live streaming gives you the opportunity to ensure you want to publish after shooting, just in case you got video of something less flattering, like someone yawning.

The key is to increase the regularity of such real coverage. Add a reminder to your calendar or pick a favorite day of the week when you regularly try this strategy. Avoid posting a really cool video irregularly, such as once every three months, as this confuses most audiences as to what is actually happening.

Last, the key to video nowadays is to make it shareable. Why would someone want to share your video? Did it make them smile, laugh or feel an emotion? That’s why!

Take these unique ways to add more video into your branding and watch your website and social media engagement grow. For more information on this topic, feel free to reach out to the team at NSPR.
