Florida Orthopaedic Institute Celebrates Expansion with Tampa Bay Times 10/27/17

Florida Orthopaedic to expand its Brandon presence with new facility

BRANDON — Florida Orthopaedic Institute plans to build a new, larger facility in Brandon to accommodate its growing practice.

The FOI building will serve as the anchor tenant at the Brandon Gateway Medical Plaza located at 560 S Lakewood Drive. Crews broke ground Tuesday on the 29,000 square-foot facility, that will replace the 13,000-square foot location on E Brandon Boulevard. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2018.

“The facility will include the newest technology and treatment options so that patients can receive all of the care they need at one location,” chief operating officer Marc Katzin said in a statement.

Features include 30 exam rooms, X-ray and MRI machines. Patients also will be able to receive physical and occupational therapy. Florida Orthopaedic Institute will be the primary tenant occupying more than half of the plaza’s 53,000 square feet.

The new project underscores the trend of growing new medical facilities in the area. Florida Cancer Specialists, Florida Medical Center and Suncoast Community Health have all opened new Brandon offices in recent years in the vicinity of Florida Orthopaedic’s planned location at the corner of Lakewood and Brandon Parkway.

FOI is partnering with the developer, builder and property manager Ryan Companies US to build the center. Rojo Architecture has designed the space.

Founded in 1989, the institute provides expertise and treatment of orthopedic-related injuries and conditions, including adult reconstruction and arthritis, chiropractic services and musculoskeletal oncology.

The organization also has offices in Bloomingdale and Sun City Center among others. For more information, please visit: FloridaOrtho.com.

Jersey Mike’s Subs come to SouthShore

Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its sliced and grilled subs, has opened its first Riverview location at 10175 Big Bend Road. Franchise owner Rick Barrett once resided in Riverview for more than 20 years, previously owning businesses there as well.

“I look forward to bringing the authentic Jersey Mike’s sub sandwiches to the Riverview community,” Barrett said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing the Jersey Mike’s experience and getting our customers addicted to the juice (a red wine vinegar and olive oil blend).”

The Riverview location will bring the number of SouthShore and Brandon Jersey Mike locations to three. It currently has spots at 1248 E Brandon Blvd. and at 10951 Causeway Boulevard in Brandon.

Started in 1956, Jersey Mike’s now has 1,500 restaurants open and under development nationwide. This year, Jersey Mike’s was named the country’s fastest-growing Limited Service Chain and fastest-growing sandwich chain in the 2017 Nation’s Restaurant News Top 100.

The restaurant’s hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this location directly at (813) 405-4300 or visit jerseymikes.com.
