Job Title: PR Specialist

Department: Public Relations

Reports To: PR Director

FLSA Status: Exempt or Independent Contractor

Summary: Ensure the successful implementation of tactical areas of all PR campaigns, programs, and initiatives for assigned clients. Utilization of public relations tactics, techniques, and skills for the successful launch of PR programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining social media posts for multiple clients (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube, etc).
  • Writing, developing, maintaining and sending newsletters for clients.
  • PR and marketing collateral development, including copywriting, proofing, and assisting with graphic design.
  • Submitting and updating client events on media calendars.
  • Reporting and tracking all efforts to show value from agency.
  • Photography and videography support.
  • Community relations including event planning, organizing, and attending.
  • Support with maintaining client websites with media interviews, events, and news (back-end knowledge of WordPress).
  • Assistance with writing press releases.
  • Research for PR networking opportunities for clients.
  • Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.

Quantifiables:

  • Minimum of (2) social media posts per assigned client daily, minimum of (1) eblast per assigned client monthly, and minimum of (1) monthly report per assigned client.
  • Attend bi-weekly client meetings per assigned clients.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field with a minimum of three years of PR experience.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft PowerPoint; Vocus / Cision; Social Media Platforms; HootSuite; Search Engines; Constant Contact; MailChimp; Canva; Dropbox; Google products including Google Chat and Calendar.

Language Ability: Associated Press (AP) Style understanding required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, dimensions, percentages, circulation, and audience reach. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee is expected to have a home office set up with proper desk and workspace. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office. The home office must have similar work environment as the company’s office. Noise must be minimal.
